Jakarta – Political analyst from Diponegoro University, Teguh Yuwono, said that General Election Commision (KPU) only need to prepared regulation about election through e-voting because there were e-voting procedure in regional election bill
“So, it is not necessary Government Regulation for Replacing Bill in simultaneously regional election in 270 regional, or 9 provinces, 224 districts and 37 cities in the midts of Covid-19 pandemic” Dr. Teguh Yuwono said in Semarang, Tuesday (22/9)
Teguh Yuwono expressed his opinion in responding Ministre of Politic, Law and Security, Mahfud Md, who confirm that regional still undergoing simultaneously in 270 regions in 9th of December 2020
When explaining introduction speech in virtual coordination meeting for preparing of simultaneously regional election in 2020, Tuesday (22/9) realize controversion postponement of regional election among people. However, there are some of people who need to continue simultaneously regional election
Answering question about election through regional legislative member, Teguh Yuwono said “I think the best choice is direct regional election because democration is from people by people for people and this is our concern”
Mentioned regional election in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic, Vice Dean I of Social and Politic Faculty of Diponegoro University explained that regional election postponement is not a solution because not all activities have to be postponed
“If all activities have to be postponed because of corona virus, next we have to postponed lecture, postponed eat, I think regional election postponement is not a solution. Moreover, there were postponement in election day from 23rd of September to 9th of December” Teguh said
Regional election postponement was written in Bill Number 6/2020 article 201A Paragraph (1) with essention that simultenously regional election in September 2020 could not implemented if not correspond with national disaster period such as pandemic Covid-19. In addition, at Paragraph (2) have been told that simultaneous postponement voting could be executed in December of 2020
Teguh reminded that Covid-19 is the real situation for the people. However, it is necessary for us to use technology mechanism, such as e-voting, to deal with this situation.
“So, it is necessary to prepared online mechanism or offline mechanism with tight protocol” Teguh reminded
This Flinders University’s alumni said that Covid-19 is not an obstacle. Corona virus have to be handled but all of actitivities not to stop
