Malang – The experimental digital art project Syntetika, led by Erfansyah Anandata and Danar Tri Yudistira, has once again enlivened the space with an immersive performance themed “Legends of Borneo” in the Indonesia Cultural Dining Series held at the Saigonsan Garden Hotel Tugu Malang.
In this performance, Erfan & Danar responded directly to the traditional music of the song “Wonderful Borneo & Leleng”, a meaningful composition that highlights the richness of Dayak culture and the natural beauty of tropical Borneo. This song conveys admiration for the harmony of Dayak people’s lives, the rivers that divide the rainforest, and the cultural heritage that remains sustainable.
Through live projection drawing technology, Syntetika transforms the movement and rhythm of music into stunning digital visuals. Every note of the sampe that is plucked, every song that flows, is translated into dynamic and poetic strokes of color. The audience who are enjoying their dinner seem to be invited to dive into the mystical landscape of Borneo—ancient forests, ancestral dances, and the thrilling spirit of preservation.
This performance is not only a visual entertainment, but also a form of respect for local culture. In a broader context, this work is a statement that technology and art can go hand in hand in reinterpreting Indonesia’s cultural heritage in a contemporary way.
“Through Syntetika, we want every audience to not only see the image, but also feel the depth of the story behind it. We believe that culture is not only to be remembered, but to be revived through new media,” said Danar.
“The Legends of Borneo performance is a form of Syntetika’s dedication to continue exploring the narrative of Nusantara culture through a modern, experimental, and emotional approach.” Welcomed Erfan.
