Taiwan Continues to Promote Halal Food and Beverage Certification

JakartaThe Tourism Bureau of the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communication noted that currently more than 300 restaurants and hotels in Taiwan have received Halal Certificates.

A press release from the Tourism Bureau of the Taiwan Ministry of Transportation and Communication, which was received by the Indonesian Cyber ​​Media Union (SMSI) in Jakarta, Sunday (26/2/2023) stated that Taiwan continues to promote halal food and beverage certification to attract international Muslim tourists.

The press statement was made in relation to the Astindo Travel Fair from 23 to 26 February 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE BSD) Jakarta, where Taiwan participated in the event.

The Taiwan Pavilion at the exhibition appeared with the main theme related to sensory experiences, presented a series of interesting “Do It Yourself (DIY)” performances and activities and invited the Indonesian people to experience the authentic taste of Taiwan for themselves.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau press release further explains, based on the ranking from the Mastercard-Crescent Rating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), Taiwan is again ranked second as a non-OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) halal tourist destination and won an award as an inclusive tourism destination this year.

At the Astindo Travel Fair, the Taiwan Pavilion also provides a Muslim zone and specifically invites Muslim experts from The Chinese Muslim Association, one of the institutions that provide halal certification in Taiwan to speak at the event.

The association’s Muslim experts introduced Taiwan’s newest tourism resources and demonstrated how to travel comfortably, pleasantly and eat food in a calm and safe manner to tourists, including Muslim tourists from Indonesia, which is the country with the world’s largest Muslim population.

It was also stated that specifically to welcome the arrival of Indonesian tourists in Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau updated the “Guan Hong Program” on November 11, 2022 by simplifying the procedure for applying for a tourist visa to Taiwan.

In addition, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau is also collaborating with tourism factories, two of Taiwan’s largest airlines, Taiwan’s main travel agents, and other related parties to participate in the Astindo Travel Fair and will hold Taiwan tourism workshops in Jakarta and Surabaya.

Taiwan has also re-opened its borders since October 13, 2022, where the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Taiwan in 2022 reached 78,162 people, 135.57 percent higher than the number targeted by the Tourism Bureau which shows the enthusiasm of Indonesian tourists to travel to Taiwan.

In order to attract more Indonesian tourists to Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau specifically formed a delegation of 25 Taiwanese tourists from 10 tourism industry units to participate in the Astindo Travel Fair.

Apart from participating in the tourism exhibition, the Taiwan Tourism delegation will also hold a “Business-to-Business” (B2B) Taiwan tourism promotion workshop at The Westin Jakarta Hotel on 27 February 2023 and at the Shangri-La Surabaya Hotel on 28 February 2023.

Product explanations and the exchange of tourism information in the workshop expected to strengthen the cooperation between Taiwanese and Indonesian tourism industry players and can join hands to introduce Taiwan’s wealth of tourism resources to the Indonesian people. (*)
