Towards the World Stage: PRSI Officially Joins FIRA, the International Robotics Federation

The Indonesian Robotics Association (PRSI) has officially joined the Federation of International RoboSport Association (FIRA). As an official organization, PRSI has become a member of FIRA, making Indonesia recognized internationally in the world of robotic sports.

On April 15, 2025, after officially becoming a member of FIRA, PRSI is required to follow the programs and regulations implemented by FIRA, including national and international robotic competitions, where PRSI must apply the rules and categories that already exist within FIRA.

Wahyu Hidayat, Chairman of the PB PRSI, said that joining FIRA is a strategic step to gain international recognition and achieve the vision of advancing robotic sports in Indonesia. “This is a strategic step for us to register PRSI with the international federation FIRA, so that PRSI can gain international recognition, because we have a vision to advance robotics, especially robotic sports in Indonesia, and by joining FIRA, we are more confident to introduce and advance robotic sports in Indonesia.”

Further, Wahyu added that currently, there is no one in Indonesia who introduces robotic sports or robosport, but robotic competitions are frequently held almost every month and in every region in Indonesia. Therefore, PRSI, led by Wahyu Hidayat, has a vision to advance robotic sports at the national and international levels. “We all know that robotic sports are still very little known, so the establishment of the Indonesian Robotics Association is one of our visions to introduce and advance robotic sports at the national and international levels, we want robotic sports to be viewed similarly to other sports.”

The FIRA organization itself is almost 30 years old, founded in 1996 by Prof. Jong-Hwan Kim from KAIST, Korea. FIRA is the oldest robot soccer competition in the world. From its humble beginnings, FIRA has evolved into a major robotic competition with the aim of using sports as a benchmark for cutting-edge research in robotics and related fields. FIRA also includes the FIRA Air competition for autonomous flying robots, FIRA Challenge for robotic research with significant social benefits such as urban search and rescue robots, and FIRA Youth for the next generation of researchers.

On this occasion, Yenny Agoestian, Deputy Secretary General of the World Peace Organization (WPO) in the field of Education, Culture, and Human Resource, cum Presidential Staff for Public Communication and Information, speaking on behalf of WPO’s President, Dr. Bambang Herry Purnomo SH MH, stated that the WPO, which consists of 202 countries, fully supports this activity. “Robotics and AI technology is not just about producing intelligent robots, but also about educating the world community to be smarter. Education is one of the pillars of WPO in developing education in various sectors. With good education, society is able to think and act for a better life, so that all forms of actions against the law can be avoided and peace will be created naturally. Robotics and AI can unite the world and become a symbol of international cooperation in achieving progress and peace.
