Moeldoko: Don’t Let False Data Be Used to Pass Candidates in 2024

Jakarta – Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP) Moeldoko asked the General Elections Commission (KPU) to update various electoral data to prevent false data in the 2024 General Election.

“Don’t let fake data be used for registration of political parties, independent candidates, or regional heads so that people who don’t represent the people’s choices can become leaders,” he said, in the One Election Data for One Data Indonesia webinar, Wednesday (1 /12).

According to him, this can be prevented by implementing One Data Indonesia, which is the government’s effort to provide an integrated database that can be accessed openly. The former TNI commander said that the KPU could use One Data Indonesia to improve electoral data management.

“KSP supports One Indonesian Data so that the KPU has more comprehensive data. In the end, the KPU data can be used by the government for other sectors,” said Moeldoko.

Regarding the schedule for the 2024 election itself, Secretary General of the Gerindra Party DPP Ahmad Muzani estimates that the decision will only be discussed in 2022.

“I think the decision will be in what month we will discuss next year,” he said, at the Gerindra Party DPP Office, Ragunan, South Jakarta, Wednesday (1/12).

“Until now it has not been decided in this trial, the new DPR trial for the DPR RI trial will end on December 15,” continued the Deputy Chair of the MPR.

The Coordinator of Maju Perempuan Indonesia (MPI) Lena Maryana Mukti suggested that 50 percent of the candidates for KPU and Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) come from women. According to her, it is important as a temporary special action for women’s representation or affirmative action.

“We hope that 30 percent, if possible 50:50 can be accommodated in the names submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Lena in a virtual audience with the KPU-Bawaslu Member Selection Team, Wednesday (1/12).

“Don’t be faced with the quantity, quality, value of men. In the past, the selection was only for women. So, women and women, only men,” continued the former spokesman for the Jokowi-Ma’ruf National Campaign Team. Previously, Timsel KPU and Bawaslu had opened registration.

A total of 629 people passed the administrative stage. Later, South Timsel will choose 14 names of candidates for KPU members and 10 names of candidates for Bawaslu members. The names will be submitted to President Joko Widodo for later selection in the DPR.
