With magnificent mountains, vast forests, and captivating coastlines, Taiwan is perfect to satisfied Indonesia travelers’ desire for nature exploration and wellness retreats, making it the ideal destination for those seeking to “return to nature and embrace a healthy lifestyle”.
Since April 8, 2025, the Taiwan Tourism Administration has been displaying spectacular Taiwan tourism videos on a giant 3D-LED billboard in the plaza outside the Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX Tower 2). On Jakarta’s April 13 Car-Free Day, the Taiwan Tourism Administration also held a special promotional event on Jalan Sudirman, inviting special guest Andrew Kalaweit — nicknamed “Tarzan” followed by over a million people online — to share his exciting Health and Sustainability lifestyles journey in Taiwan and highlight the island’s natural beauty to the Indonesian public.
The Taiwan Tourism Administration has actively targeted the Indonesian market since the beginning of the year, rolling out exciting events every month and garnering widespread interest. Whether in terms of visitor numbers or accommodation booking inquiries, statistics reveal a significant rise in Indonesians’ awareness of and interest in traveling to Taiwan. Accordingly, the Taiwan Tourism Administration has launched four major travel themes — Nature, Food, Romance, and Shopping — and invited several chosen popular KOLs as tourism ambassadors and share their personal experiences of traveling in Taiwan. Named ambassador of the Nature theme is Andrew Kalaweit, a young KOL known for his passion for nature exploration, wildlife conservation, and nature photography.
For his trip to Taiwan, Andrew Kalaweit brought his younger brother, Enzo Kalaweit, for their Nature adventure, visiting Alishan, Yangmingshan, and Taipingshan, and experiencing activities such as seaside surfing, DIY aiyu jelly, sampling indigenous cuisines, and hot spring foot baths. Thirteen-year-old Enzo — nicknamed “Little Andrew” — is not only cute and adorable, but also a skilled photographer. The photos he took of monkeys on Alishan went viral immediately after he posted them on social media, drawing enthusiastic responses from thousands of followers and highlighting the allure of Taiwan’s natural ecology. The brothers’ engaging chemistry and stunning photography made their Taiwan journey the most talked-about “Nature brothers adventure”.
Lin Xin Ren of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta remarked that Taiwan and Indonesia share many cultural and lifestyle similarities, including a love for outdoor activities and abundant natural resources, making Taiwan an ideal Leisure & nature destination for Indonesian travelers. At the event, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau also prepared Taiwanese milk tea and pineapple cakes, along with interactive activities symbolizing good fortune. On this Car-Free Day, outdoor enthusiasts not only experienced Taiwan’s renowned warmth and hospitality, but also the beautiful harmony between people and nature — leaving them with a lasting and wonderful impression of Taiwan.
