Banjarbaru City Government Launches Free BTS Innovation Public Transportation

Banjarbaru City has launched a new public transportation fleet called “Angkutan Juara” with the Buy The Service (BTS) scheme, which was officially launched on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

 

Mayor Aditya Mufti Ariffin explained that the “Angkutan Juara” service will be free until the end of 2025. After that period, the policy regarding service fees will be determined further.

 

“For the time being, this service will be free until the end of 2025. In the future, we will decide on further policies. The public is welcome to use this facility according to the corridor that has been determined by the Transportation Agency,” said Aditya, Monday (2/9/2024).

Aditya added that each transportation unit is equipped with comfort and security facilities, including CCTV that is directly connected to the Transportation Agency.

 

“The public does not need to worry when using this mass transportation because everything is monitored and recorded by CCTV. Speed ​​is also monitored, and if the driver drives too fast, an alarm will sound,” Aditya explained.

 

“Angkutan Juara” will operate on five routes that were previously not covered by public transportation. The target is that next year this fleet is expected to serve nine additional routes.

Meanwhile, Suharto, Expert Staff for Technology and Energy from the Ministry of Transportation, gave high appreciation to the innovation carried out by the Banjarbaru City government. According to him, Banjarbaru City is one of only three regions in Indonesia that implements the Buy The Service (BTS) transportation system.

 

“Banjarbaru City deserves praise for its innovation and breakthrough in providing comfortable and decent public transportation. This city is one of three regions in Indonesia that has implemented the Buy The Service (BTS) system,” said Suharto.

Suharto also highlighted the comfort of the “Angkutan Juara” facilities which are considered much better than the public transportation currently available in Banjarbaru City.

 

“I have seen the fleet directly. The cars are very comfortable, equipped with AC, CCTV, and automatic doors. This is more than just comfortable for mass transportation. “People should start switching to mass transportation so that traffic congestion does not get worse,” he added.
