Iran Stands on Democratic Values: Expelled Palestinians Could Return to Their Land

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency Mohammad Boroujerdi, met with journalists at the official residence of the Iranian Embassy on Tuesday,(31/10/2023).

During the approximately two hours meeting, Boroujerdi explained various bilateral relations and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the latest developments in the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

The meeting was attended by around 45 journalists from various media. Boroujerdi started by introducing himself as the new Iranian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia. He handed over his credentials to President Jokowi on October 23 2023. Mohammad Boroujerdi is actually a figure who is familiar with Indonesia because he has been a diploma in Indonesia for 22 years.

Boroujerdi explained the position and actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding condemnation of the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza.

“Iran did provide political support, but Iran never carried out operational involvement,” said Boroujerdi.

According to Boroujerdi, Iran has always supported the rights of Palestinians. However, this does not mean that his government is interfering in military matters, including Hamas’ implementation of the Al Aqsa Hurricane operation.

“The accusation that Iran helped and planned is baseless, Hamas has also explained this. Iran is not involved either directly or indirectly,” he continued.

“Iran’s approach to democratic values. The Palestinian people who were expelled can return to their land,” stressed Boroujerdi, who was accompanied by Madame Elaheh, his wife.

According to Boroujerdi, the West has repeatedly asked Iran not to get involved in the war between Israel and Palestine. However, it is Israel that continues to carry out attacks on several neighboring countries, including Iran.

Boroujerdi asked that we look at the war currently taking place in Gaza and not just focus on the moment of October 7th. All of this stems from the Israeli occupation which has lasted for decades and claimed many lives of the Palestinian people.

“The roots of the disaster that occurred are different from those heard and read. This is very deep. The aim of the Zionist regime is genocide, to cleanse the Palestinian people and unite the occupation,” he told the journalists present. (RI)
