SMSI as the Pioneer of the Largest Cyber Association in Indonesia

The Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) was recognized by Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Hendri CH Bangun as the largest cyber association in Indonesia with 1,224 members.

He conveyed this to the 1st SMSI National Working Meeting at Marbella Hotel Anyer, Serang, Banten, Saturday (26/9/2020).

“Hopefully this National Working Meeting can generate fresh, practical and pragmatic ideas as well as provide an elegant solution that leads to the interests of the nation,” he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate, said that SMSI is an important partner for the government in promoting democracy, one of the agents for advanced Indonesia.

“Especially, SMSI is able to tackle hoax news, information confusion and pornography. In fact, it often appears on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube,” admitted the minister.

While the General Chairperson of SMSI Firdaus is very grateful for the presence of the management of the provincial and district / city SMSI branches even though the Covid-19 pandemic is willing to provide the time and energy for the progress of SMSI.

“We need innovation and breakthroughs so that the young cyber media can be prosperous. Of course, this must get support from the Minister of Communication and Information and the Press Council,” said Firdaus.

Also attending the event was the Regent of Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra, Dodi Reza Alex Noerdin, who acknowledged that the existence of SMSI is vital in joint efforts to advance the region and prosper the people.

“Cyber media is part of our citizens which we consider an important partner and of course we foster it well. There are no less than 72 cyber media in our area that collaborate with the district government in order to promote and prosper the community,” said the man who is an honorary member of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI).
