Ganjar Pranowo Invites Journalists to Create Positive Narrative

Semarang – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo reminded that in a state of emergency in many fields facing the Indonesian nation at this time, ideally journalists and their media are motivated to create positive news narratives.

This was conveyed by Ganjar Pranowo when he received the management of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Central Java Province for the period 2020-2025 at the Governor’s Office, Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

PWI Central Java is led directly by Chairman Amir Machmud NS, accompanied by Setiawan Hendra Kelana (Secretary), Ahmad Zaenal Muttaqin (Treasurer), Ade Oesman (Deputy Chairperson for Cooperation), Bakti Yudhatama (Deputy Chairperson for Welfare), and Hery Pamungkas (Deputy Chairperson Multimedia Field).

“I do not intend to co-opt journalists to think only on the side of the government, but instead invite reporters to be able to spread optimism, educate, inspire, and schedule solutions for various problems,” he said.

From the reporting practices that he has observed so far, there is an opportunity to carry out journalism with a positive narrative with the weight of national social agendas.

These days, he added, the condition of the nation is very urgent. “Everything is emergency. It would be nice if the collaboration of journalists with the government and the community was practiced by making news with positive narratives,” said the Governor.

He also congratulated the new management of PWI Central Java, a product of the Central Java PWI Provincial Conference, September 18-19, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Chairmain of the Central Java PWI, Amir Machmud explained, this time it was the first audience after the 2020-2025 period management was formed. This gathering was held to reinforce the cooperation that had been done before.

“We are connecting what has been previously cooperated between PWI and the Provincial Government of Central Java. Among them are programs related to education and training for journalists,” he said.

On that occasion, his party agreed with what the Governor expected regarding the positive narrative. “The Governor said the importance of a positive narrative. Journalists or the media can become statesmen at work,” he added.

Amir said, the cooperation between PWI and the Central Java Provincial Government is a form of linkage for the benefit of the community. In the future, in a pandemic situation, they will also program a social agenda.
