Jakarta – The Tourism Industry is a fast growing industry in the world. As an international platform, the Global Tourism Forum has facilitated the implementation of meetings of world leaders and investors since 2014.
As a country that has enormous tourism potential, Indonesia has been chosen as the host for the 2021 Indonesia Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting. GTF is a brand of the World Tourism Forum Institute (WTFI) and a collaborative platform focused on the challenges faced by the tourism and travel industry. The GTF plays an important role in attracting direct investment into the country. Therefore, GTF is very important, especially in difficult times like today.
Tourism is an industry that has been the worst affected by the economy due to Covid-19. Data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy 2020 in November shows that the total decline in the number of foreign tourists until December 2020 reached -88.95%. The drastic reduction in the impact of this global pandemic has made Indonesia only receive 153,498 foreign tourists visiting until September 2020. In fact, in September 2019, Indonesia was able to reach 1,388,719 international tourists.
This drastic weakening condition motivates the Indonesia Tourism Forum to find out how the right tourism business model that implemented in a global pandemic. This is the reason why today’s Conference In Tour takes the big theme Recovery and Beyond.
So the ITF with GTF and WTFI initiated the holding of the In Tour Conference as an initial effort to find synergies in the rise of tourism. Not only for Indonesian tourism. But also world tourism. GTF and ITF hope that by 2021, the MICE Industry can at least give birth to world-class events again.
As the In Tour Hybrid Conference, this is a kick-off or the first step from the holding of the Global Tourism Summit, which can again be held in Bali. By presenting the return of tourism figures from all parts of the world in October 2021.
In his statement, Chairman of the Indonesia Tourism Forum (ITF), Sapta Nirwandar stated “in every difficulty there is always convenience. In the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic, with creativity, innovation and courage will find easiness and solutions to find opportunities”.
With the election of Indonesia as the host of the 2021 Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting, it shows that there is still international trust in Indonesia as a safe tourist destination, in addition to aiming to attract as much foreign investment as possible for Indonesia. As stated by the President of WTFI – Bulut Bagci that the 2021 GTF is a meeting place between travel agents and operators, hotel entrepreneurs & managers, local & foreign businessmen, investor groups & bankers, investment consulting companies, and politicians, government officials and executive figures.
In order to prepare for the 2021 GTF, the Indonesia Tourism Forum (ITF) will hold a hybrid event as well as an in-tour conference in collaboration with WTFI. The conference takes place and broadcasts sequentially with Istanbul, Turkey and ends in Washington, America.
With the theme “Recovery and Beyond”, the 2020 GTF is a revival of the tourism industry in the New Normal era, not only for Indonesia but also the rise of ASEAN tourism.
