The potential for sports tourism-based tourism in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency is no less good than other areas in South Kalimantan. In Loksado, for example, bamboo rafting is a primadona to attract special interest tourists.
Initially, local people often used bamboo rafts as water transportation on the Amandit River. This habit seems to disturb some residents to make bamboo rafts for water sports. So tourists made bamboo rafting a top spot in Loksado.
Yes, this water sport is similar to rafting. However, bamboo rafting uses bamboo sticks. Bamboo rafting is often the favorite during the Loksado Festival. In addition, travelers can enjoy Haratai Waterfall. Feeling bamboo rafting can stimulate adrenaline because you are being torn apart by the rushing river water.
The Governor of South Kalimantan, H Sahbirin Noor, continues to encourage the development of local tourism potential such as bamboo rafting.
“We really support the development of tourism destinations in South Kalimantan, including in Loksado. We also welcome anyone who wants to invest in South Kalimantan, for the advancement and welfare of the community,” said Sahbirin Noor, at the opening of the Loksado Festival in 2018.
During the festival, Rus’an Anwar, one of the bamboo rafting participants from Banjarmasin, was enthusiastic about sailing through the Amandi River. A long river flanked by mountains and forests, and large and rare trees.
He kept taking pictures and recording the excitement of riding bamboo rafting which he felt for the first time.
“This is my first time riding bamboo rafting, I am very enthusiastic. An extraordinary experience, magnificent beauty and sceneries” said Rus’an Anwar.
