Moeldoko Center Cares for Love

Sumamah (70), resident of Kp. Caringin Lebak RT 20 RW 05 Tunjung Teja Village, Tunjung Teja District, Serang Regency, Banten at that time could only sit quietly lamenting that his house was dilapidated with age.

The house measuring 5×8 M2 with cubicle walls, dirt floor and roof tile which was already brittle was destroyed because Sumamah did not have the money to repair her house. “Boro-boro repairing the house, it is difficult to support himself, first because he is old and now living alone,” said volunteer Moeldoko who was met in September 2021.

When night falls, the wind makes Sumamah have to cover her bed which is filled with cotton with cloth so that she can stay warm at night. “It can’t be helped, surrender, just to eat, luckily I still get it from neighbors,” said Sumamah resignedly when Moeldoko Center volunteers came to visit her house in September 2021 ago.

Then 50 meters from Sumamah’s house, there is also Mrs. Ciot (65). Ciot lives in a house that is not much different from Sumamah. Even though his life was minimal, Ciot never gave up. With meager funds, she buys cooking ingredients for her to turn into snacks and sells them to support herself and her youngest daughter, who has a mental disorder due to being abandoned by her husband.

“For business capital, borrow it first, when it sells it will be paid off,” explained Ciot.

In a day if he sells, he can pocket 10 thousand rupiahs to buy rice for him to eat, but actually the cakes he makes don’t always run out and he even has to be in arrears. Seeing the condition of the two elderly people, Bahrul Ulum, a member of the Moeldoko Center who lives in Serang Banten, was concerned about the condition of the two elderly people living in an unfit house and initiated house renovation assistance for the two mothers.

After going through the visit process to see the condition of the two mothers, it was decided that the two mothers’ houses would be rebuilt. aBahrul explained that the two mothers live in limitations, to meet their daily needs they only rely on food assistance from local residents. “I am concerned about the condition of Sumamah’s mother and Ciot’s mother. The plan is that we will rebuild their 5x8m house, complete with a bathroom in the house,” said Bahrul.

The process of building the house itself will take approximately 8 weeks. “For the time being, the two mothers will be looking for a place to live until a new house is finished,” explained Bahrul.

Accompany and give attention

October 11, 2021, Moeldoko Center volunteers visited Mrs. Sumamah and Mrs. Ciot. Moeldoko volunteers on that occasion chatted with the two elderly people and after finding out that Mrs. Ciot’s daughter was retarded, the volunteers immediately contacted the local government and took her to the Bani Sifa Foundation, a place for psychiatric and drug treatment in the Serang area, Banten.

Now Mrs. Ciot is even happier, because her youngest daughter can undergo treatment after several years just lying on the floor without feeling the sun and interacting with the surrounding community and her uninhabitable house will soon be back on its feet in a more decent condition. After almost two months of the construction process, on December 9, 2021, the Moeldoko Center Community, together with PT Meccaya, and Brabus Indonesia Alron Group, which initiated the Moeldoko Center Peduli Kasih program, carried out key handover activities to Mrs. Sumamah (70) and Mrs. Ciot (65) in Caringin Lebak Village, Tunjung Teja District, Serang, Banten.

Bahrul Ulum, as the Chair of the Moeldoko Center Serang, feels grateful that the Moeldoko Center Peduli Kasih activities can run smoothly and quickly so that the two elderly can immediately occupy a new house and live in a proper home.” As the initiator and the chief executive of the Moeldoko Center Peduli Kasih house renovation activity, I would like to thank Mr. General Moeldoko, Mrs. Trisya Suherman as General Chairperson of the Moeldoko Center and the ranks along with Mr. Ricky from Meccaya and Brabus Indonesia by Alron Group so that the dream house of Mrs. Ciot and Mrs. Sumamah woke up properly,” said Bahrul gratefully.

Starting the event, Mrs. Sumamah, whose house is beautiful and comfortable, felt touched and grateful when she received the house keys. “Thank you, I didn’t expect to be like this (my new house),” said Sumamah as her eyes filled with tears of joy. I used to sleep with a lot of rats and was often bitten by rats, showing the rat bite marks on his body and tearing up.

Considering the condition of his old house when it rained and the hot sun made him uncomfortable in the house. Now the new house has been equipped with furniture such as beds, cupboards, tables, chairs and kitchen equipment such as gas stoves and kitchen sets. “O Allah, it’s good now (my house),” he said full of emotion.

The process of handing over the second key was continued at Mrs. Ciot’s house. Mrs. Ciot who received the house keys also feels grateful and sad that there are still good people who want to help her, even though they are not related by blood.” Thanks for the gentlemen. My house is cool, comfortable,” said Ciot while teary eyed.

Seeing the happy smiles of Mrs. Sumamah and Mrs. Ciot that day, Riduan Kaban, Operational Director of PT Meccaya was also happy to see that the two elderly people of their house were back on their feet firmly and comfortably. “In this attack, PT Meccaya together with the Moeldoko Center helped renovate the homes of the elderly who were underprivileged. Seeing that their house is already standing firmly and comfortably, of course, they feel proud to be able to take part in this good deed, “said Riduan.

Hengky Kurniawan, CEO of Brabus Indonesia by Alron Group also said the same thing. “The point is that we, Brabus Indonesia, want to share and help people who really need help,” said Hengky Friday (12/10/2021).
