Sei Alalak Bridge is Earthquake Resistant and Able to Last 100 Years

Banjarmasin – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Sei Alalak Bridge in Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, Thursday (21/10/2021). This bridge is built with earthquake-resistant structures and can last up to 100 years.

“This 850 meter long bridge was built with a fund of Rp 278 billion. Built with high technology and earthquake-resistant, it is estimated that it will last, God willing, for up to 100 years,” Jokowi said at the inauguration.

He heard the news that the public could not wait for the Sei Alalak bridge to be inaugurated and opened to the public. Therefore, Jokowi is grateful that the construction of this bridge can be completed quickly and can be inaugurated today.

“Alhamdulillah, the Sei Alalak bridge has been completed and today we will inaugurate it so that the community can immediately use it. I heard that people are impatiently waiting for the inauguration of this bridge,” said Jokowi.

The public can’t wait to use this bridge, according to Jokowi, because this bridge has a very important function as the main access route for Banjarmasin City with various areas in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. At the same time, it also overcomes traffic jams after the southern ring road was damaged and destroyed by floods.

Therefore, Jokowi hopes that the existence of this bridge will strengthen connectivity between regions in South Kalimantan, facilitate inter-regional transportation flows, streamline logistics costs and encourage economic growth in the surrounding areas, as well as create new economic centers.
