Tourism Visiting to Riau Island Declined to 99.05% Because Covid-19

Tanjungpinang – Central Statistic Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik/BPS) stated that number of tourists visiting to Riau Island Province incleaned to 7.90% in October 2020, compared to September 2020 or from 1.999 visitors became 2.157 visitors.

“But, compared to October 2019, number of tourist visitors decleaned to 99.05% because of Covid-10 transmission and there were significant impact to local tourism site” Agus Sudibyo, Head of Central Statistic Agency of Riau Island, in his press release, as cited by siberindo.co group, Friday (4/12)

Agus explained that the rise number of tourists visitor in October 2020 came from two main gate in Riau Island teritory and both main gate are Karimuan Regent which incleaned to 160% and Tanjungpinang City which incleaned about 21.19%

Meanwhile, there were 129 visiting from Bintang Regent gate and Batam city which decleaned with 0.60%

Accumulatively, there were 411.562 tourist visiting in January-October 2020, or decrease 82.46% compared to same period of previous year

The highest visitors in January-October 2020 referred to entrance are, Batam City with 307.222 visiting (74.65%), followed by Bintan Regent with 64.062 visitng (15.57%), Karimun Regent with 21.549 visiting (5.24%), and Tanjungpinang city with 18.729 visiting (4.55%).

Central Statistic Agency recorded rate of star hotel occupancy in Riau Island and October 2020 is 21.59% on average or increase 4.68 point compared to hotel accupancy at September 2020 with 16.91%

Meanwhile, stay duration for foreign visitor and Indonesia visitors at star Hotel in Riau Island at October 2020 is 1.49 a day or decrease 0.29 point compared to September 2020
