Papua – The Joint TNI Polri Team took action against the KKSB (Kelompok Kriminal Separatis Bersenjata – Armed Separatic Criminal Group) at Sugapa District Street, Kabupaten Intan Jaya.
This is the result of the post-TGPF deterrence development by KKSB on 9 October 2020. From the results of the development and collection of information from the community, accurate information is obtained that one of the KKSB groups is headquartered at Sugapa District Street.
Since Wednesday (21/10) surveillance of the KKSB headquarters in Jalai District of Sugapa, and one honai was identified which was strongly suspected as one of the KKSB posts. Information was also obtained from the community that the KKSB had asked for funds from one village several times which should have been used for the public interest of the village.
The action began at 05.30 WIT by the Joint TNI-Polri Team and succeeded in killing 1 KKSB named Rubinus Tigau and securing 2 others, one of whom claimed to be Rubinus Tigau ‘s younger brother. It was obtained from him that Rubinus Tigau was indeed active in the KKSB action for the past 1 year.
At the request of the family, the dead victim of the KKSB Pok was buried on the spot. The Joint TNI-Polri Team helps dig the grave. During the funeral, the family admitted that the victim had been active in the KKSB action.
At 09.30 the Joint TNI-Polri Team carried out the consolidation in a safe condition. In this action, there was 1 child, named Meinus (6 years old) who suffered a wound on the left side of the waist due to recoset. Meinus was then evacuated to Bilorai Airport, Intan Jaya, then to Timika for further medical treatment, accompanied by 2 of his family.
The evidence confiscated were as follows: several arrows and arrows, sharp machete, 1 homemade weapon, KKSB Organizational Structure Document of Kodap VIII Kemabu Intan Jaya, money cash Rp. 69,000,000, – and 2 units of HP communication tools.
Regarding information that said the victim was a religious figure in the village, Kapen Kogabwilhan III Colonel Czi IGN Suriastawa explained that the target had been stalked for a long time, apart from being based on accurate information that he was active in the KKSB action. This was also acknowledged by the family and other witnesses.
Colonel Czi Suriastawa also added that after the Hitadipa incident, there was a tendency for victims from the KKSB to always be associated with religious figures. Apart from the Hitadipa case, there were 3 cases that KKSB linked to religious leaders.
Including last October 19, the massive amount of intimidation from the KKSB to fly the Morning Star flag while gathering at houses of worship. This is very unfortunate because it carries religious sentiments for the sake of the action. He reminded KKSB not to play games with SARA (ethnicity, religion, race and between groups).
Colonel Czi Suriastawa said the TNI-Polri had great respect for religious leaders, traditional leaders and community leaders everywhere, including in Papua. There was no advantage in opposing these characters, let alone killing them.
In fact, the TNI-Polri really needs the cooperation of these figures because with its enormous influence on society, and should be able to be role models in people’s lives, including in their compliance with Indonesian law.
