Kotabaru – The drama of the alleged neutrality of civil servants during the Local Leaders Election resulted in a criminal sentence against Antonius Jarwana, a civil servant at the Education and Culture Office, Kotabaru Regency.
The Kotabaru Level II District Court judge knocked a fine of Rp. 1 million and subsidiary to 1 month in prison for Antonius Jarwana during the verdict hearing, Thursday (11/19/2020). The trial of this decision was chaired by the chairwoman of the panel, Christina Endarwati, assisted by two judges, Meir Elisabeth Batara Randa and Eko Murdani Yus Simanjuntak.
According to the Head of the Kotabaru District Prosecutor’s Section, Rizki Purbo Nugroho, the defendant Antonius Jarwana was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 1 million, a subsidiary of 1 month in prison. “The decision is a fine of Rp. 1 million and subsidiary to 1 month in prison,” said Rizki Purbo Nugroho to banjarhits.com, the siberindo.co group, Thursday (19/11/2020).
Rizki continued, both the public prosecutor and the defendant Antonius Jarwana accepted the criminal verdict. “Arep opo kok banding (what do you want to appeal, red). According to the demands, the panel of judges only lowered its subsidies,” said Rizki.
This verdict was lower than the demands of the public prosecutor against the defendant. The prosecutor demanded a fine of Rp. 1 million for Antonius, a subsidiary of 2 months of body imprisonment. According to Rizki, it is possible that a Rp. 1 million fined must be paid today, after the defendant received the judge’s decision.
From the file of charges, Rizki said there were points that were burdensome and relieve the defendant Antonius Jarwana. A damning point, he said, was that the actions of the defendant Antonius Jarwana had injured the democratic process.
“What makes it easier is that the defendant admitted his actions, was straightforward, and had never been convicted,” Rizki continued.
Defendant Antonius does not need to be detained because the penalty is under five years. Antonius Jarwana was charged with violating Article 188 in conjunction with Article 71 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Local Leaders Election.
