BANJARMASIN – The 2020 regional head election is getting closer, prospective regional head candidates who are participating in the contest have submitted their registration files to the General Election Commission in each region.
As reported by kalsel.siberindo.co, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, two prospective regional head candidates in South Kalimantan were infected with Covid-19, namely Bacalon Kotabaru Regional Head Burhanudin (from the independent route) and Aditya Mufti Arifin Bacalon Mayor of Banjarbaru who was carried by PPP and PDIP . In fact, the two candidates for regional head only sent volunteers to submit registration documents.
Burhanudin, who is currently Deputy Regent of Kotabaru, infected with Covid-19, remains enthusiastic about participating in the regional elections.
“I am sick with Covid-19, I am still excited to take part in the 2020 Kotabaru regional elections. I have submitted it to the volunteers to deliver the nomination files to the Kotabaru KPU, ” he said hoarsely, holding back tears in a long distance video conference dialogue, witnessed by the ranks of the KPU and Bawaslu Kotabaru, plus the mass of supporters, Sunday (6/9/2020) afternoon, at around 16.30 WITA.
Burhanudin was ready physically and mentally even though he was hit by a corona sickness exam and had to undergo self-isolation treatment in Banjarbaru City, which is 9 hours from Kotabaru Regency. “I am currently undergoing treatment in independent isolation with my wife and child. We ask for prayers to recover from being infected with the Corona virus, ”he said crying.
This former member of the South Kalimantan DPRD who came from the Bulan Bintang Party apologized for not being able to attend directly to deliver the registration files to the KPU. “With the arrival of the envoy to hand over the registration documents for the candidates for Regent-Deputy Regent of Kotabaru, it can be processed by the KPU,” he hoped.
The 2020 Pilkada in Kotabaru until the deadline for registration was only attended by two pairs. One of them, the incumbent regent candidate, Sayed Jafar Alaydrus-Andi Rudi Latif (SJA-Arul), who won 12 political parties for seats in the Kotabaru DPRD. Burhanudin-Bahrudin only supports PKPI and Gelora.
Meanwhile, Aditya, when confirmed by a former member of the two-term DPR RI who was also the son of the former South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Arifin, admitted that he had a swab test on Tuesday (1/9/2020) and was declared infected with Covid-19. “Thank God, this time it continues to improve, we ask for prayer assistance,” he said Sunday night (6/9/2020).
